About The Team
About:
The Kansas State University Fishing Team was formed in January of 2004. The club started out fishing American Bass Angler tournaments, and quickly became a nationally ranked and well known collegiate fishing team. Paving the way for other college teams to form, K-State now competes against fishing teams across the country. Considered one of the top collegiate angling teams in the nation after winning 3 National Championships in 5 years, the KSU Fishing Team represents K-State with pride!
Notable Finishes
2022- Michael Mueting and Zach Vielhauer place 9th at the MLF Lake of the Ozarks and gained berth into the MLF National Championship.
2019- Will Andrie and Gaige Blanton finish 9th at the Bassmaster College National Championship on Lake Chickamauga in Dayton, TN.
2018- Zach Vielhauer and Nate Gardner finish 5th at the FLW College Qualifier on Lake of the Ozarks. This qualifies them for the FLW National Championship.
2018 - Zach Vielhauer and Will Andrie WIN the 2018 Bassmaster Classic College Bracket on March 18th, on Lake Keowee, SC. They weighed a 13lb, 2oz. bag to take home yet another trophy!! Pictures are located on our gallery page, and also posted on our Instagram page.
2017 - Tyler Nekolny and Hunter Whiteley, and Quinn Fowler and Josh Schraad place 4th and 8th place, respectively, at the FLW College Qualifier on Lake of the Ozarks. They both qualified for the 2018 FLW College National Championship.
2017 - Sheldon Rogge and Travis Blenn take 15th place at the College B.A.S.S. qualifier on Lake of the Ozarks, and qualify for the 2017 College B.A.S.S National Championship.
2017 - Kyle Alsop and Travis Blenn win the FLW College Series National Championship on Wheeler Lake, Alabama. They took home a new Ranger Bass boat, and some other contingency prizes. Kyle won the head to head fish-off against Travis, and gained a berth into the FLW Forrest Wood Cup, where he took home a 31st place finish against some of the best pro fishermen in the world, and won $10,000.
2016 – Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship on Green River Lake, KY – Kyle Alsop and Taylor Bivins weighed 36 pounds and 4 ounces over 3 days to place 1st! Their winnings included $5,000, 2 Humminbird Helix 10″ graphs, and a chance to fish for a spot in the Bassmaster Classic!
2016 – Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Wild Card on Murray Lake, OK – Sheldon Rogge and Parker Davis placed 13th to qualify for the National Championship
2016 – Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Midwest Regional on Clinton Lake, IL – Two teams qualified for the National Championship
5th Place – Kyle Alsop and Taylor Bivins
6th Place – Garrett Cates and Tyler Nekolny
2016 – FLW College Regional on the Mississippi River in Prairie Du Chen, WI – Kyle Alsop and Travis Blenn finish 10th to qualify for the National Championship.
2015 – Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Midwest Regional on the Mississippi River at LaCrosse, WI – Two teams qualify for the National Championship
4th Place – Sheldon Rogge and Lance Maldonado
11th Place – Kyle Alsop and Taylor Bivins
2015 – Boat U.S. National Championship on Pickwick Lake, AL – Kyle Alsop and Sheldon Rogge finish 12th place out of a 162 boat field.
2015 – FLW College Qualifier on Table Rock Lake, MO – Four teams qualify for the Midwest Regional.
2nd Place – Quinn Fowler and Dylan McKee
3rd Place – Garrett Cates and Brett Herder
4th Place – Lance Maldonado and Ethan Dhuyvetter
10th Place – Kyle Alsop and Taylor Bivins
2015 – FLW Open on Kentucky Lake, KY – Garrett Cates and Tyler Nekolny finish 22nd place in the biggest college tournament to date of over 200 boats.
2014 – FLW College Regional on Kentucky Lake, KY – Nathen Kozlowski and Lance Maldonado finish 9th place qualifying them for nationals.
2014 – Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship on Lake Chatuge, GA – Garrett Cates and Graham Howard finish 11th place.
2014 – Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship on Lake of the Ozarks, MO – Dillon McKee and Quinn Fowler finish 3rd place qualifying them for nationals.
2014 – Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Midwest Regional on Lake of the Ozarks, MO – Garrett Cates and Graham Howard finish 13th place qualifying them for nationals.
2014 – FLW College Qualifier on Table Rock Lake, MO – Nathen Kozlowski and Lance Maldonado fishing 6th place qualifying them for regionals.
2013 – FLW College Qualifier on Pickwick Lake – Nathen Kozlowski and Lance Maldonado finish 1st place qualifying them for regionals.
2013 – FLW College Qualifier on Kentucky Lake, KY – Garrett Cates and Kyle Alsop finish 8th place qualifying them for regionals.
2013 – Carhartt Bassmaster College Series on Lake Sugema, IA – Ethan Dhuyvetter and Ben Zuk finish 5th place qualifying them for nationals.
2013 – Carhartt Bassmaster College Series on Lake Sugema, IA – Sam Starr and Alex Fulkerson finish 8th place qualifying them for nationals.
2012- FLW College Qualifier on Mississippi River Pool 8 – Nathen Kozlowski and Ethan Dhuyvetter finish 5th place.
2012 – FLW College Fishing National Championship on Lake Murray, SC – Ryan Patterson finishes 1st place and wins $75,000 and a Ranger 177TR & 90hp Evinrude or Mercury motor.
2011 – FLW College Fishing Regional Tournament on Kinkaid Lake – Ryan Patterson finishes in 4th place to Qualify for the FLW National Championship winning $5000.
2011 – FLW College Fishing Tournament on Detroit River – AJ Farmer and Tom Hobson take 6th Place.
2011 – FLW College Fishing Tournament on Wolf River Chain – Ryan Baker and Nathen Kozlowski take 8th place.
2011 – FLW College Fishing Tournament on Lake of the Ozarks – Ryan and Brandon Patterson take 5th Place winning $2000.
2009 – FLW College Fishing Tournament on Pool 19 of the Mississippi River – Ben Fuchs and Jared Fish finish 4th place and take home a $3000 check.
2009 – Arkansas Tech University Invitational Tournament – Ben Fuchs and Jared Fish finish 4th place, Casey Burden and Ryan Baker finish 9th place with Big Bass Honors.
2008 – Arkansas Tech Invitational Tournament – Ben Fuchs and Casey Smith finish 7th place.
2007 – Fox College Sports Collegiate National Championship – Ben Fuchs and Scott Feldt finish 19th place.
2006 – Fox College Sports Collegiate National Championship – Casey Smith and Cole Schmidt finish 8th place.
